Presentation title: Supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy with the development and application of low-emission high strength structural steels

Dr Patel is a world class steel technologist and business professional with over 25 years of international industry experience. He works with a diverse range of steelmakers across the world. Bringing together both physical metallurgy and process reality, he strives to connect scientific research and industry to find market orientated solutions.

A recognised expert in micro-alloyed steels and its application, he holds a Doctorate in Steel Technology, an MBA, and is a Fellow of The Institute of Materials-UK where he is a Board Member of the Iron and Steel Group. He is also a member of the British Standards Institutes ISE/103 Structural Steels Committee.

Throughout his career he has regularly published in international journals, conferences and delivered several invited keynote presentations. He also acts as an Executive Consultant and Advisor in areas spanning, strategic partnership building, strategic research and development planning and implementation. Most recently, as a special advisor towards the creation of a National Steel Academy in the Middle East. He is a passionate champion of the steel industry and its role in society and currently has a focus on net-zero carbon pathways covering technology, regulatory and financial implications.
