Presentation title: Ti/N ratio and Nb in shipbuilding steels and their coarse-grained heat affected zone
Namhyun Kang is the Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Pusan National University, and Director of the Eco-Metals Education Center. He received a B.S. degree from Pusan National University in Metallurgical Engineering, in 1995 and a D.Phil. in Physical Metallurgy from the Pennsylvania State University, USA in 2003. He served in Senior scientist at the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology from 2003-2006 and became a Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Pusan National University in 2006. He also serves as Editor of Metals and Materials International and Keyreader of Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A. Namhyun’s activities are focussed on development of steels and application of welding. His research interests have been concentrated on hydrogen embrittlement of steels, cold cracking in high strength steel welds, Nb alloying in shipbuilding steels, high-entropy alloys for joining, and electromigration in Pb-free solders. His work with students and colleagues has been recognized with a number of awards.
